Sell your gun with Manley and Colwell Auctions and get the fairest price for your firearm.
The first step is to make an appointment. Use the contact form at the bottom of this page or email info@manleyandcolwellauctions.com
You can choose to bring it to the Aber Armoury shop in Aberystwyth, or we can collect it from you. You can only have it couriered to Aber Armoury if you are a Registered Firearms Dealer.
If you choose a collection, we may charge you. We will discuss and agree on this charge with you when you make the appointment, as it is dependent on location. If you are not located in Wales, we may request you wait until we have a few more collections in your area.
When you give your gun to us, we will verify that your licenses are valid for the firearm you are selling. We will take your contact details, date of birth and bank details. We need these to ensure you receive payment when the auction ends.
Aber Armoury stores your firearms. They will input your information into their Gun Register system.
Please let us know the history of the gun, defects, and the last time it was in use so we can add this information to your listing.
Once the administrative work is complete, we will create your listing.
While it is in our possession, you remain the owner of your firearm. It will remain yours until we have arranged the correct documentation and transferred it to the new owner.

I want to sell my gun through your auction. How do I start?

You can contact us by using the seller’s contact form at the bottom of this page, by emailing info@manleyandcolwellauctions.com or by phoning us on 07951 821678.
Fees apply for collections and are subject to our availability in your area.
Drop-offs take place at the Aber Armoury shop in Aberystwyth, Wales.
What fees do you charge the seller?
We charge a set fee of 20% of the final hammer price to our sellers. You receive 80% of the displayed bid price.
Collection fees apply. If we are collecting a gun from you, this fee will be dependent on location and confirmed with you when we arrange collection.
When will you collect my gun and what will happen?
We will need to arrange an appointment for collection. We will find a suitable time for when we are in your area. You must pay collection fees upfront, before our visit. Collection fees are non-refundable.
All relevant paperwork must be present, such as your VALID licence (Section 1 or 2 Certificate). Section 1’s must have the correct slot available.
Please provide as much information as possible about the firearm we are collecting so we can include this in your auction listing. Thorough and accurate descriptions improve your guns’ sell ability.
If you do not have the correct paperwork, we will still charge you the collection fee.
Can I drop off my gun and save on collection fees?
Yes, you can drop them off at Aber Armoury’s shop near Aberystwyth. Please contact us to arrange an appointment for delivery.
Please bring all your relevant, valid paperwork with you and ensure that the firearm is in a safe and unloaded state, or we will not process your order.
I want to post my gun to you, is this possible?
If you are a Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD), you can have it couriered to Aber Armoury. Legally, firearms need to be couriered from RFD to RFD.
If you are not a registered dealer, you will need to prearrange this via your local RFD. Fees may apply at each end. You will need to securely package your items. Manley and Colwell take no responsibility for damage during transport to us.
What if my gun doesn’t sell?
We will discuss the reason with you. Common scenarios include:
- Too high a reserve – we will contact you to discuss dropping your reserve price and place it in the next auction with a lower starting price.
- The gun needs some attention regarding quality – we will discuss options for gunsmiths and repairs with you.
- The gun has no market value – we will discuss disposal or returns options with you.
All of the above scenarios are likely to incur additional fees. We won’t take action until we have discussed options with you.
Manley and Colwell Auctions will relist your gun in one additional auction. After this, a storage fee of £5 per gun per week will apply.
Once you have collected, do you become the items owner?
Manley and Colwell are advertising the gun on your behalf.
You remain the owner until the item has been sold and transferred to its new owner or processed appropriately.
